Catherine Povey is a
Welsh milliner who lives and works in her native
South Wales. However, demand for her unique
pieces extends around the world.
Catherine's
inspirations are many and varied - the natural
world, social interactions and the arts have
provided the sparks for works in the past. Each
piece is unique and hand-crafted combining
traditional millinery methods and modern creative
techniques. Catherine uses time honoured
materials such as straw and felt but actively
embraces less traditional textiles.

In June 2009 Catherine's
design and millinery credentials were recognised
when she secured a place in the final of a
prestigious millinery competition at Royal Ascot.
Catherine beat hundreds of entrants worldwide to
make the final which was judged by international
milliner Louis Mariette. Catherine most recently
exhibited and sold her hats at the BurJuman
International Millinery Exhibition in Dubai in
March 2010 where many of her pieces were
photographed at the Dubai World Cup.

In August 2010 Catherine's

festival. Catherine has designed and
created a special vintage and burlesque inspired
collection for the occasion. Catherine's work can
be viewed and purchased through the website and
by personal appointment at her studio in Penarth,
near Cardiff, where she lives with her husband
and three sons.
